Shipshewana Getaway

We had a lovely mini-getaway to Shipshewana, Indiana. Shipshewana is located right in the heart of Amish Country. You know you have arrived in Amish Country when about 15 miles out from Shipshewana, you start to see a horse and buggy coming and going in each direction.

We stayed with Matt's parents and his brother, JJ, and his beautiful wife, Jennie at a cozy little Bed & Breakfast.

The pond out back

We ate at the famous Essenhaus and enjoyed some delicious Amish home-cooking.

The warm summer evening was perfect for taking in the scenery.

This old-fashioned door sign was too funny.

In my opinion, the "breakfast" part of B & B's is the best.

JJ and Dave at the breakfast table--can you guess which one is the morning person?

After breakfast, we went shopping at the Shipshewana Flea Market.

One can find almost anything and everything.

Of course we had to stop in the meat and cheese shop...

Our flea market finds...

A knitted head wrap {it looks like a hat, but is actually a wrap that buttons in the back}. Too bad it'll be a
few more months before I can wear it!

Absolutely delicious-smelling homemade candles; "Fall Trio" and "Toasted Hazelnut Coffee"

It was a very short, yet very sweet little family vacation!
